Days 11

Nights 10

Day 01 - Arrival in Negombo

Your Sri Lankan adventure begins the moment you step off the plane at Bandaranaike International Airport. A warm welcome awaits as you are transferred to the charming coastal town of Negombo, just minutes away. Settle into your hotel, feel the ocean breeze drift in and let the day’s tensions melt away by the beach or pool. As golden hour descends, take a stroll along the shore before sitting down to a memorable seafood dinner right by the ocean.

Day 02 - Journey to Sigiriya

Leave the coast behind and head into Sri Lanka’s cultural heartland. The scenic drive to Sigiriya winds through vivid rural landscapes – paddy fields, village markets and spice gardens bursting with cinnamon, pepper and cardamom. Consider a brief stop to explore a working spice garden en route. For the truly adventurous, an optional hot air balloon ride offers sweeping views of the countryside at dawn. Arrive and check into a tranquil eco-lodge nestled in lush tropical surroundings, where nature sets the mood.

Day 03 - Sigiriya & Dambulla

Today is defined by wonder. Rise early to climb the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress- a UNESCO World Heritage Site soaring 200 metres above the jungle canopy, adorned with ancient frescoes and surrounded by royal water gardens. Descend with a sense of awe, then embark on a village cycling tour, pedalling through rural pathways and joining locals for a traditional cooking experience. Round off the day with a visit to the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, home to centuries-old Buddhist murals and golden statues.

Day 04 - Onward to Kandy

The drive to Kandy unfolds through rolling green hills and misty valleys, offering glimpses of Sri Lanka’s timeless landscapes. Arrive in the island’s cultural capital, nestled in a natural basin surrounded by forested ridges. As evening falls, witness a mesmerising Kandyan cultural dance performance- a vibrant display of traditional drumming, acrobatics and costumed storytelling. Later, make your way to the Kandy Viewpoint for sweeping panoramic views of the city’s terracotta rooftops glowing softly beneath the surrounding hills.

Day 05 - Kandy Explored

Spend a peaceful morning at the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most revered sites, where the atmosphere of reverence is palpable. Stroll around the scenic Kandy Lake, its still waters reflecting the surrounding hills and temple rooftops. Explore vibrant local markets filled with batik, gems and spices or wander the beautifully curated Royal Botanical Gardens in nearby Peradeniya. As the day winds down, allow Kandy’s deeply spiritual and cultural energy to settle over you in quiet reflection.

Day 06 - Scenic Train to Ella

Board what is widely regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular train journeys- the highland railway from Kandy through misty tea country to Ella. Watch Emerald Terraces, plunging gorges and cloud-wreathed peaks scroll past your window in a living postcard. Upon arrival, lace up your shoes for the rewarding hike up Little Adam’s Peak, then head to the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial-era stone viaduct framed by jungle. The afternoon is yours to explore Ella’s buzzing cafes, boutique shops and mountain viewpoints at your own pace.

Day 07 - Yala Wildlife Safari

Travel south through the sun-baked lowlands toward Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuary. Board a private jeep as the bush opens up around you, revealing a world teeming with life. Yala boasts one of the world’s highest densities of leopards, alongside herds of elephants, mugger crocodiles, sloth bears and a dazzling array of birdlife, including painted storks and peacocks. Your experienced guide navigates sandy tracks and watering holes as the golden afternoon light turns the wilderness into something truly magical.

Day 08 - Southern Coast Arrival

Bid farewell to the wilderness and head west along the southern coastline to the laid-back surf town of Weligama or the bohemian village of Mirissa. Check into a breezy beachfront hotel where the sound of the Indian Ocean becomes your constant companion. Spend the afternoon simply unwinding- let the waves do their work. As the sun begins its descent, make your way to the dramatic Parrot Rock, where you can watch the sky ignite in shades of amber and rose from an unforgettable vantage point above the sea.

Day 09 - A Day at Leisure

This day belongs entirely to you. Beginners can take surfing lessons on the gentle breaks of Weligama Bay, one of Sri Lanka’s finest spots to learn. More experienced surfers can seek out the longer waves along the point. Alternatively, hire a tuk-tuk and explore the charming coastal towns of Mirissa, Dikwella or Thalalla, where whitewashed churches, fishing harbours and coconut groves await. If the season is right- typically between November and April- embark on an optional whale watching excursion to spot blue and sperm whales offshore.

Day 10 - Bliss by the Coast

Begin this final full day with a restorative yoga session on the beach as the morning sun warms the sand around you- a perfect counterpoint to weeks of travel. Later, board a small boat for a romantic sunset cruise along the coast, watching the shoreline glow in the fading light. Visit the photogenic Coconut Tree Hill, an iconic perch where slender palms lean over the cliffside above a turquoise bay. Wind down the evening exploring seaside cafes and indulging in one last languid seafood dinner as the waves whisper farewell.

Day 11 - Departure

After breakfast, take a final quiet moment to breathe in the salt air and savour the memories gathered across this remarkable island. Your transfer to the airport departs with a heart full of vivid impressions- ancient rock fortresses at dawn, the rumble of a mountain train, a leopard crossing a dusty track and the endless blue of the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka does not simply offer a holiday. It offers a transformation.
