Dolce Vita in Ceylon

About The Tour

Dolce Vita in Ceylon is an invitation to experience Sri Lanka the way it was always meant to be savoured – slowly, sumptuously and with all the senses wide open. This journey weaves together the island’s most captivating landscapes, from the mist-draped tea hills of Nuwara Eliya and the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya to the colonial grandeur of Galle Fort and the untamed wilderness of Yala. Inspired by the Italian art of living well, every moment has been crafted to balance discovery with indulgence – scenic train rides, candlelit dinners, village encounters and safari sunsets, all accompanied by the warmth of authentic Sri Lankan hospitality.

Tour Itinerary

Days 10

Nights 09

Day 01 – Arrival & Negombo

Touch down in the Pearl of the Indian Ocean and ease into the island’s rhythm. A private transfer whisks you to the laid-back lagoon town of Negombo, where the afternoon belongs entirely to you – sea breeze, salt air and the soft crash of waves. As the sun dips into the horizon, raise a glass to the journey ahead with a sunset aperitivo welcome drink by the shore.

Day 02 – Negombo to Sigiriya

Leave the coast behind as your scenic drive winds through lush paddy fields and sleepy villages straight from another era. A colourful roadside fruit market offers your first taste of local life – and perhaps a slice of fresh king coconut. By afternoon, your eco-luxury lodge emerges from the jungle greenery and as the fireflies appear, dinner is served beneath the open sky, lit only by candlelight.

Day 03 – Sigiriya Rock & Village Life

Rise before the heat and conquer the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, scaling 1,200 steps to breathtaking panoramic views worthy of every effort. Return for a leisurely late breakfast before stepping into authentic village life, a gentle catamaran glide across the lake, a home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch full of warmth and flavour and an optional Ayurvedic spa ritual to melt the day into pure bliss.

Day 04 – Polonnaruwa & Dambulla

Pedal through the UNESCO-listed ruins of Polonnaruwa Ancient City at a gloriously unhurried pace, weaving past towering Buddha statues, royal bathing pools and crumbling palace walls that whisper of a thousand-year-old civilisation. The afternoon brings the golden caves of Dambulla, where 153 statues and vivid ceiling frescoes have watched over centuries of pilgrims. The evening is yours – gentle, quiet and richly contemplative.

Day 05 – Spice Gardens, Cooking & Kandy

Drive through Matale’s fragrant spice gardens, where cinnamon, cardamom and pepper grow in lush abundance. A private hands-on cooking session unlocks the secrets behind Sri Lanka’s legendary cuisine, using spices plucked fresh from the earth. Continue to Kandy, the island’s cultural heart, to witness the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, then enjoy an electrifying evening of traditional Kandyan dance, drumbeats and fire performances.

Day 06 – Train to Nuwara Eliya

Board one of the world’s most celebrated train journeys, a slow, dreamlike ascent through cascading tea estates, silver waterfalls and cloud-wrapped hills that seem too beautiful to be real. Arrive at historic Nanu Oya and visit a storied tea estate for a guided tasting of single-origin Ceylon teas. As golden light fades over Gregory Lake, an evening stroll around its shores feels like a scene from a novel.

Day 07 – Ella: Bridges, Peaks & Panoramas

Ella arrives like a reward – mountain air, emerald hills and the iconic Nine Arch Bridge rising from the valley. A gentle hike to Little Adam’s Peak delivers sweeping views without the strenuous climb, leaving plenty of time to linger at a clifftop cafe terrace over strong coffee and good conversation. As stars appear above the misty ridgeline, a private candlelit dinner with uninterrupted mountain views awaits.

Day 08 – Yala Safari

Trade the highlands for the wild south as you enter Yala National Park, one of Asia’s most biodiverse safari destinations. Your afternoon jeep safari ventures deep into dry woodland and scrubland in search of Sri Lanka’s legendary leopards, alongside elephants, crocodiles, peacocks and exotic birdlife. As the sun sets in shades of amber and rose over the wilderness, raise a cold sundowner drink to the wild.

Day 09 – Galle Fort

The coastal road unfolds along the Indian Ocean’s sparkling edge, then delivers you to Galle- a living museum of Dutch colonial grandeur. Stroll the ramparts of the 17th-century fort with a knowledgeable guide, discovering hidden courtyards, artisan boutiques, independent art galleries and cafe terraces draped in bougainvillea. As the sun dissolves into the sea beyond the old lighthouse, Galle rewards you with its most cinematic hour.

Day 10 – Departure

Your Dolce Vita in Ceylon draws to a close, but the island leaves its mark- in the spices still on your fingertips, the landscapes burned gently into memory and the unhurried warmth of a place that moves to its own beautiful rhythm. A private transfer takes you back to Bandaranaike International Airport, carrying you home with a suitcase full of stories and a heart already planning the return.
