Adventure & Surf Escape in Sri Lanka

About The Tour

Sri Lanka is a teardrop-shaped island that packs a world into a compact space of ancient temples, misty hill stations, untamed wildlife, surf-lashed coastlines and some of the warmest hospitality on earth. This eleven-day journey moves from the breezy west coast through cool mountain highlands, across to the wild east, south through safari country and along the sun-drenched southern shore. Every day brings a different landscape, a different rhythm, a different flavour. Slow down, breathe it in – this island has a way of quietly getting under your skin.

Tour Itinerary

Days 11

Nights 10

Day 01- Arrival & First Impressions

Touch down in Sri Lanka and make your way to the charming seaside town of Negombo. Shake off the journey with a leisurely sunset walk along the beach, where fishing boats bob in the golden light. As evening falls, settle in for your first taste of Sri Lankan seafood – grilled, spiced and utterly fresh.

Day 02 - The Legendary Hill Country Train from Ella to Kandy

Drive to Kandy and board one of the world’s great rail journeys, the hill-country train to Ella. Watch the landscape shift from coastal plains to mist-wrapped mountains and emerald tea estates. Arrive in Ella as dusk settles and check into a cosy guesthouse perched in the hills.

Day 03 - Sunrise Hike & the Nine Arch Bridge

Rise early and climb Little Adam’s Peak as the sun breaks over the rolling hills, a view that makes every early alarm worthwhile. Spend the rest of the morning at the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, where colonial stonework arches through a jungle canopy, especially magical when a train rumbles past.

Day 04 - Adventure, Cafes & Live Music in Ella

Fill your day with as much or as little adrenaline as you like – chase waterfalls, zip-line through the treetops or tear across hillside trails on an ATV. Come evening, wander Ella’s string of laid-back cafes, grab a plate of something good and linger over live music drifting through the cool mountain air.

Day 05 - East Coast Arrival and Arugam Bay

Cross the island to Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka’s legendary surf hub on the wild east coast. The journey itself is a revelation – flat scrubland, lagoons and a quieter, untouched Sri Lanka. Arrive to golden sands and easy waves, then explore nearby Whiskey Point as the afternoon light turns everything amber.

Day 06 - Lagoons, Wildlife & Beach Community

Head out on a lagoon safari at dawn – flat water, mangroves and elephants wading at the bank if you’re lucky. Spend the afternoon discovering hidden coves along the coastline. As the sun goes down, Arugam Bay comes alive with music, easy conversation and the infectious energy of global travellers gathered in one special place.

Day 07 - Into the Safari Region

Travel south to Yala, home to one of the world’s highest densities of leopards. Settle into a safari lodge or luxury tented camp before heading out on morning and evening jeep safaris with an expert naturalist. The bush here is electric – every rustle in the undergrowth could be something extraordinary.

Day 08 – A Slow Day in Yala

A slower, more meditative day in the bush. Lace up for a guided jungle walk where a naturalist reveals what the jeep tracks miss – insects, bird calls, tracks in the mud. Afternoons are for resting at the eco-lodge, editing photographs and simply sitting with the sounds of wild Sri Lanka all around.

Day 09- Southern Coast Arrival

Leave the wilderness behind and head to the vibrant southern coastline, where turquoise water meets whitewashed surf towns. Check into a beachfront stay in laid-back Weligama or the charming bay of Mirissa. The evening is yours – sundowners on the sand, fresh seafood and the sound of waves outside your window.

Day 10- Beach life, Surf & Whales

A gloriously unstructured day on the south coast. Beginners will love the gentle, forgiving waves perfect for learning to surf. Brunch culture thrives here – smoothie bowls and strong coffee in open-air cafes. If the season is right, a whale-watching boat offshore might reveal blue whales or spinner dolphins before a long, blissful sunset session on the sand.

Day 11 - Colombo & Departure

The journey ends back in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling, endlessly surprising capital. If time allows, wander the colourful Pettah markets, sip a last coffee along the Galle Face waterfront or pick up a bag of proper Ceylon tea to take home. Then, with a full heart and a slightly heavier bag, it’s time to fly.
